Liposuction
If you cannot get rid of unwanted fat areas in some parts of your body despite dieting and exercising, or if you want to eliminate localized, stubborn fat accumulation above your ideal weight, the liposuction fat removal procedure is an application just for you.
It is performed in a hospital setting, in the operating room, and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. Depending on the size of the area to be treated and the number of regions, it can be performed under local or general anesthesia. The surgery takes between 1-5 hours depending on the extent and condition of the regions to be treated. In liposuction surgery, the stubborn fat area is expanded by inflating it with tumescent fluid. Fat tissue is broken down manually with the help of cannulas 2-5 mm in diameter or with the help of PAL, LASER, or VASER devices. After the process of breaking down the fats, the removal, i.e., suction process of the fats is performed. A special surgical vacuum aspirator device is used in this process. The process of sucking out the fats via vacuum continues until the desired body contours and, besides that, a smooth skin surface are provided.
It has become possible to properly break down and remove fat accumulations in many parts of the body such as under the chin, cheeks, neck, upper inner arm, breasts, chest, abdomen, waist, hip, thigh, inner knee, and back of the leg with vacuum. Additionally, it is used as a complementary procedure in other body contour correction surgeries (tummy tuck, breast reduction, etc.).
Depending on the area treated, some pain, burning, and soreness may be felt after liposuction surgery. However, even if felt, they are minimal and can be easily controlled with simple painkillers and rest. If performed under general anesthesia, depending on the size of the procedure area, the patient is discharged after being hospitalized for 1-2 days. Special corsets are worn after surgery and are recommended to be used for about 3 weeks. The scars, which are slightly visible initially, will not bother you and will become completely invisible over time. After liposuction, there is a decrease in the number of fat cells and it is not possible for these cells to renew themselves. If the patient maintains their weight, the result is permanent. However, if excessive weight is gained and lost, the fat cells remaining in the untreated areas of the body can continue to store fat and increase their volume.
