Arm Lift
It is inevitable for the skin to lose its flexibility and fullness due to reasons such as weight gain/loss and aging. With increasing age, deterioration occurs in the structure and shape of elastic and collagen fibers in the body, and shrinkage occurs in the subcutaneous fat layer. As a result, loosening and sagging occur in body tissues. When these saggings occur in the arm area, they can be corrected with arm lift surgery and liposuction.
Due to old age, weight gain/loss, and gravity, saggings and cracks occur in the back and inner parts of the arm. The amount of fat tissue accumulated along with the sagging shows personal differences. Therefore, each patient is evaluated separately. Arm lift surgery (Brachioplasty) can be performed alone or together with other lift surgeries such as tummy tuck, breast reduction or breast lift, leg lift, and liposuction. Much better results are obtained especially when arm lift surgery is combined with liposuction. In this way, both the subcutaneous fat tissue thins more and more skin can be removed.
In the pre-surgery evaluation, attention is paid to the amount of fat tissue in the inner and back part of the arm and the degree of sagging. Additionally, detailed information is given to you about the stitch scar and its location that will develop after the surgery. The stitch scar remains in the area close to the armpit and/or in the inner part of the arm in arm lift surgeries. These areas are the places least visible when viewed from the outside. In cases where there is not much sagging, the scars remain only in the armpit area.
In cases where the skin quality is good and there is no sagging, i.e., in cases where only fat accumulation is high, liposuction is sufficient. However, if there is skin sagging along with excess fat tissue, a lift surgery is definitely required.
Arm lift surgery can be performed under general anesthesia or sedation. Sagging skin and excess fat tissue are removed from the inner and back part of the arm. If necessary, liposuction can be performed on other parts of the arm in the same surgery. The incision site is stitched in two layers, and at the end of the surgery, the arm is wrapped with a soft dressing. One can return to daily activities after 4-5 days, and stitches heal after 8-10 days. After arm lift surgery, an arm corset must be worn for 1 week or 10 days. In this way, both less swelling occurs and the skin is ensured to shrink by adhering to the underlying tissues. The surgery scar begins to lose its prominence after 1 month, and the prominence completely disappears after 1 year.
